I recently canvassed with Seed the Vote and my union, UNITE HERE, in Reno/Washoe County—the swing county in the crucial swing state. I am returning soon for the GOTV. It’s a dead heat in the polls, which doesn’t reflect the massive canvass operation by Seed the Vote, UNITE HERE, other labor organizations, and the Nevada Democrats. Seed the Vote/UNITE HERE made two passes at each Democratic and Independent door before the mail-in ballots went out at the end of the first week of October. Seed the Vote has so many volunteers that they don’t take more on the weekends (when they have up to 100). Volunteer canvassers are needed only on weekdays; you can also phone the bank to Nevada and other swing states with Seed the Vote. Seed the Vote will cover hotel and gas as needed for Reno, but they also cover airfare and hotel for volunteers to canvass in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. One Sonoma Valley volunteer canvassed for a weekend in Reno and immediately committed to canvass for two weeks in Philadelphia. She is on the doors in Philly now!
